IV Phlebography

IV phlebography is a special x-ray examination of the veins and is carried out for the precise diagnosis of venous diseases of the legs. After the intravenous application of contrast medium to the back of the foot, the outflow of the contrast medium via the leg vein system is documented, which enables the clarification of varicose veins or a vein occlusion (thrombosis).

Common uses

  • Exclusion or proof of a thrombosis of the deep leg and pelvic veins
  • Assessment of varicose veins (varicosis)
